The D.E.E.P.E.R. Bible Study Method
I began using this bible study method in 2020 when my faith was being tested on many levels. It was years later that I gave it the acronym D-E-E-P-E-R to describe the study steps. I have used this study method to go deeper in God’s Word when He’s speaking to me and I have also used it to glean understanding of scriptures that were being preached to me incorrectly. I’m so thankful that I was able to grow deeper roots into God’s beautiful truth when I needed it most. I encourage you to dig deeper into your own Bible. You won’t be deceived by anything false when you are rooted in TRUTH. Let the Lord’s holy scriptures transform your life as you go deeper with Him.
How To Use The D.E.E.P.E.R. Method
Write out a scripture then go deeper
D- Define. Look up significant words in the verse using an interlinear Bible, Bible concordance or dictionary. Go deeper into the Hebrew and Greek meanings.
E- Examine. Read the full passage to gain understanding. Who wrote it? When was it written? Go deeper into the cultural context.
E- Explore. Read and write down related passages in the Bible. Go deeper into a theme, topic, or keyword.
P- Purpose. Why was this verse written? Go deeper into the significance and purpose of this Bible passage.
E- Example. How can this be exemplified in your life? Go deeper into the application for this Bible verse.
R- Respond. Praise God and respond in prayer. Go deeper in your relationship with the Lord.
